The Summer Work & Travel USA Program for college students is based on the Information and Educational Exchange Act (Smith-Mundt Act) passed by the U.S. government in 1948, which established the basic framework for Exchange Visitor Programs. This act was later incorporated into and expanded by the Fulbright-Hays Act in 1961. Before being promoted in mainland China, the program had successfully operated for nearly 70 years in Europe, the Americas, and other countries and regions in Asia. Every year, approximately 150,000 students from around the world benefit from this program during their summer break, holding a J-1 visa (Exchange Visitor Visa). The program aims to provide students with the opportunity to travel to the United States during the summer, work in American companies, and participate in short-term cultural exchange for 3-4 months. The program is fully supervised by the U.S. government, participants receive equal pay for equal work with their American colleagues, and are covered by health and accident insurance.
